WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic 2024

I was so stoked to be asked a second time to design the artwork for The Bells Beach Longboard Classic.

The brief was similar to last year, by making it it fun, colourful, and representative of a sense of place. This year, I added people to the illustration to create a sense of community. I included a loose, fluid border to represent the ocean and its waves, and within that border, I added surfboard fins along with abstract plants and flowers to evoke a feeling of nature. The lock-up was inspired by historic surf posters, giving it a retro yet modern feel, nodding to the history and nostalgia of longboarding.

The Bells Beach Longboard Classic is a culturally rich, globally significant longboard competition, from traditional ceremony and local participation through to world‑class surf performance at one of the most revered breaks in Australia.
